The History of Vectors
In 1991, Jerry L. Knight, a veteran, armed with only dedicated research and veteran demographics, led a committee for the purpose of establishing a VA Vet Center in Chico. The committee ventured to Washington D.C. and successfully lobbied congress for the only Vet Center in the US which was a direct result of a grass roots effort on the part of community veterans. VECTORS was officially formed from this group in 1994 and proceeded to assist veterans re-integration by providing assistance in many areas. A house was obtained in 1996 to provide a 6 bed residence for transition to independent living. In 2005, a successful petition to the City of Chico for a larger facility was passed.
In November the Jerry L. Knight Transitional Living Facility opened its doors to provide for 14 residents.
